My sweet daughter is only two years old. She kisses each stuffed animal good night, loves “swish” skirts, and is total chocolate lover like her mama. My favorite is when she kisses my cheeks and gives me one of her fierce little hugs and whispers, “Love you, Mama!”

My heart simply melts. For all the times that I wish we could get through some challenging phases of having young children, I definitely know I will miss these precious innocent moments once they are only memories.

In ten short years, I will have a little girl in my house that will be swiftly approaching her teen years. There is excitement to that but also a lot of nervousness. Will all the teaching I have been giving her in these years be kicking in? Will she be growing closer to God or further away? What kind of decisions will she be making? How can I parent her through the hormone-filled confusing years of transitioning to a full-fledged adult?

One way, I do plan to continue to connect and train her up in the Christian faith during those years is the same way my mom reached out to me: solid Christian books.

These are some of the books that walked me through the challenges and struggles of growing up to love the Lord well during my teen years. Within these books are timeless Biblical truths told in light of what your daughter is facing or soon will be facing as a teenager.

Since these books do contain a variety of topics including relationships with boys, eating disorders, and puberty issues, I highly recommend that you read these books first so that you can discern if each book is where your daughter is at for certain discussions.

I truly believe these books deal with these topics in a tasteful, Biblical manner however that is definitely a personal call for you to make as her mom.

Perfect Book For Christian Teenage Girls

A Young Woman After God’s Own Heart

Elizabeth George is a fantastic teacher to women. Several of her books have encouraged me to dig deeper into my relationship with God in practical ways. However, before I ever read any of those books, my mom introduced me to A Young Woman After God’s Own Heart.

Throughout this book, Ms. George uses God’s Word to lay out the map for how your daughter can train her heart to love God, make wise decisions, plan for her future, and enjoy meaningful relationships, especially with her family.

Since I was a teenager, this book has been updated but from all the reviews I have read, it definitely got better!

This book is a great starting place for calling a young teen to consider where her heart is at with God.

Lies Young Women Believe

Known best for her daily radio broadcast, Nancy Leigh DeMoss (okay, I keep forgetting she is married now and goes by Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth) breaks down several areas of life that Satan tends to attack young Christian women with his lies.

Be prepared for challenging personal times of wrestling to be done during the course of this book. Lies Young Women Believe intent is to use God’s word to highlight sin that you are harboring and even fostering and welcoming into your life.

Looking back, I remember being shocked as I read this book. In comparison to so many other girls, I was definitely the good little Christian girl but this book stripped away those delusions and really showed me that only through Christ’s work on the cross did I have a reason to boast at all.

Also, this book really helped me see how Satan had gotten into my head and fed me lies that were extremely contradictory to Scripture.

There is a study guide to go with this book so your daughter could even use this as a Bible study for herself or for a group of teen girls.

Girls Gone Wise in a World Gone Wild

Girls face so much pressure to be something other than what God calls them to as young ladies. It can be hard, if not nearly impossible to not feel the loneliness and frustration of being different from the world, especially as a teenager.

Mary Kassian walks girls through a step by step comparison of the wise woman and foolish woman found in the book of Proverbs. Along the way, girls evaluate whether their decisions are leading them towards God’s wisdom or the world’s foolishness.

Girls Gone Wise in a World Gone Wild does a wonderful job of guiding your teen daughter through the Proverbs and helping her to see Godly wisdom and wise living in a truly positive light.

I actually didn’t discover this book until college but it probably held just as much sway, if not more, because of all the wise decisions it felt like I was having to make because of my faith in God. It really encouraged me to stay in God’s path of wisdom when it would have been easier to stray.

If there is one book on this list I would recommend you walk through together with your daughter, it would be this one. No matter your age, you will be able to come away with so much from this book. Plus, you have years of wisdom to share with your daughter too.

Set-Apart Femininity and Authentic Beauty

Okay, I will be honest. I couldn’t just pick one book by Leslie Ludy so I picked both. 🙂

Authentic Beauty was the first she wrote of the two. While I totally enjoy this book, my favorite feature is the sections that Eric Ludy (her husband) wrote. In these sections he gives practical ideas that help girls of any age to come along side and support the men in their lives in Godly, appropriate fashion. The best part about this book is how much the emphasis is put on the fact that is doesn’t matter if you are single or married, you can still be a woman of God!

I would say that if you must pick one of the two, go with Set-Apart Femininity. Within this book, she lays out the most beautiful picture of God’s plan for our lives as women. In a world that says being a woman is a burden, this book highlights the true wonderful plan that God has for us as women.

Both books served to open my eyes to the beauty of God’s design for Christian women in ways that I had never before witnessed. Ludy does a wonderful job bringing the examples of both women from the Bible and real life Christian women from throughout history to life to show the precious power God has given us a women set apart to give Him all the glory.

After your daughter is hooked on these you might even consider swinging over to the Set Apart Girl website to find even more encouragement for your teenager.

For Young Women Only

If there is one topic that teen girls talk about more than anything else, it is probably teen boys. Not speaking from experience or anything. And if your daughter has a slightly nerdy side (again, not like I would know anything about that…) then I highly recommend this book for her!

As I entered my teen years, boys were a huge mystery to me. Okay, even after being married to a guy for almost 6 years and having my son, I still can honestly say that a lot of times I am clueless about guys. 🙂

Throughout For Young Women Only, Shaunti Feldhahn shares her findings from thousands and thousands of interviews  and surveys with men and teen boys. Each chapter in the book addresses certain areas including why guys like to be respected, why guys struggle with immodest clothes, why guys shy away from girls who bring drama into their lives and much, much more.

Speaking as a teen girl who once read this book, I can honestly say it changed how I addressed and approached guys. What is cool is the fact that this book will help girls understand their fathers and brothers just as much as any other guy in their life. So, while your daughter might read it to find out what a boy thinks, she will leave with a great understand of the male sex overall too.

10 Things I Want My Daughter to Know

Give 10 Things I Want My Daughter to Know as a gift to share the words that are probably already on your heart. My mom gave this to me my senior year of high school and it meant so much to me. Throughout this book by Annie Chapman, she outlines 10 lessons she wants to share with her daughter as well as yours.

In a heart felt manner, she lays out practical advice for helping your daughter face the real challenges that she will encounter as a woman in her decision making for the future, her finances, her courage, her faith, her marriage and her motherhood to name a few.

What I love about this book is that it doesn’t teach anything new or ground breaking per se, but it does teach truth to our daughters in a touching manner that grips at their hearts. While they may not appreciate the full truth of this book until they have left your nest, this book will serve to encourage them and point them back to God through all of life’s craziness.
