In the past three months, the world around us has changed with the surfacing of the Coronavirus or COVID-19 as it is often called. Responses have ranged from hilarious memes to stockpiling of toilet paper and other necesssities.
The Christian’s Response To Corornavirus
As Christians, we should be assessing how God wants us to live for His glory in this new and surprising season of illness. First, we know that in whatever we do and say, we are reflecting Christ. In China, there were stories of Christians going into areas with the sick and helping them. In other countries, Christians have shared resources that were needed with those at higher risks.
No matter what nation we live in or how closely we are affected by coronavirus, there is one thing that all Christians can band together and do. We can pray for the Coronavirus victims and those helping them. But how do we pray for them?

How To Pray For the Coronavirus Epidemic
Here are some specific ways to pray for the Coronovirus pandemic that we are facing.
Pray For The Coronavirus Victims
For starters, we should certainly be praying for those who are actually dealing with the Coronavirus. As they face testing and seclusion and uncertainty, they most definitely need our prayers.
Pray that those infected with Coronavirus are:
- Quickly Diagnosed-that those who have the virus will quickly be able to diagnosed so they can’t pass along the virus any more before going into quartine.
- Comforted By God-Pray that they sense God’s presense and experience the love of Jesus at every turn throughout this process of being diagnosed and treated.
- Able To Receive God’s Salvation-No matter what outcome they face with the disease, pray that all the victims will come to a place where they trust in Jesus for their salvation.
- Treated Well By Medical Teams-Pray that the diagnosed patients receive the absolute best care possible to help them recover.
- Allowed Access To Necessary Medical Equipment-Pray that the victims will not have to face shortages of any medical equipment, food, water, bedding or anything while they are treated.
- Able To Quickly Recover-Pray that healing will come quickly to those who have been diagnosed with Coronavirus.
Pray For the Coronavirus Medical Teams
Naturally, we should also be praying for those who are on the front lines of the treatment for this disease.
Pray that the medical teams are:
- Protected By God-Pray that they will have God’s supernatural protections over their lives and immune systems as they treat the infected.
- Allowed Access To Medical Equipment-Pray that they will not face shortages of the necessary masks, medicines, and other needs to keep themselves safe.
- Sharing God’s Love-Pray that the Christians who are on these medical teams will be bold to share Christ’s love and honor God throughout the course of the crisis.
- Wise To Know The Best Course Of Action-Pray that as they face this new and different disease, they will be given God’s wisdom and knowledge on best practices and methods to stop the disease and provide relief for their patients.
- Given Periods Of Rest-Pray that those who are working tirelessly to care for patients are themselves given breaks to rest and refresh their bodies, minds and souls.
Pray For the Coronavirus Victim’s Families
Coronavirus patients have families that are concerned about their health.
Pray that the family of the Coronavirus victim’s are:
- Able To Stay Healthy-Pray that those who have been near to the infected in their family will be able to stay healthy themselves.
- Peace-filled And Calm-Pray that as they walk through this scary time of uncertainty, they will sense God’s peace and calm in their souls.
- Shown The Love Of God-Pray that they will experience an outpouring of God’s love over them during this difficult time and that they will know the truth of salvation through Jesus Christ because of this harrowing experience.
Pray For Those Who Might Become Infected By Coronavirus
No one knows what the future may hold except God.
Pray that all of us who have the possibility of being infected by Coronavirus are:
- Able To Stay Healthy-Pray that God will supernaturally step in and help stop the spread of this virus. Pray that people will take necessary precautions to avoid the spread of germs.
- Bold To Share Christ’s Love-Pray that we as Christians will become bold to share the love of God and need for salvation through Jesus Christ during these uncertain days.
- Given God’s Peace-Pray that God’s peace will prevail, that faith in God will win out of fear, and that trust in our Savior will grow rather than diminish in the face of Coronavirus concerns.
Pray For The Leaders Working To Stop The Spread Of Corona Virus
Pray for leaders on national and local levels in every country who are:
- Having To Decide What Actions To Take-Pray that their decisions will be free from political motives. Rather that they will wisely decide actions that are truly in the best interest of stopping Coronavirus.
- Coordinating Relief Efforts-Pray that they will be able to organize the resources and people to the best of their abilities.
- Facing Backlash For Their Decisions-Pray for the leaders who are facing criticism for all their decisions during this critical time. No matter what they do, they will certainly be criticized. Pray that they can deal well with the criticism.
- In Need Of Wise Counselors-Pray that knowledgeable Christians will be placed in their lives to give them the best advice possible for decisions.
Pray For Gospel To Be Spread Throughout The Coronavirus Pandemic
Most of all, let’s pray that good news of salvation through Jesus Christ is preached often. No matter what new uncertainty arises, one thing remains the same, we are all sinners in need of a Savior.
As many face the reality of death, let’s turn this into an opportunity to show them that death need not be feared for those who have trust in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of their sins.
We have the only hope this world needs. Let’s pray that everyone can come to know the reason for the hope we have!
